Beef Stroganoff

Almost each Russian dish every family has their own way of the recipe and the way they like to cook it . This beef stroganoff is absolutely delicious, I made it the other night and my hubby had 2 refills he absolutely loves this dish, you will too:) What i love about this recipe is that the beef is so tender and soft because you slow cook it for 2 hours and it has such a wonderful taste to it, also i love having leftovers because this dish can be served over rice, pasta, buckwheat or mashed potatoes so its almost like another dish the next day! Its my fave to serve over basmati rice:)

 

  • 2 pounds beef sirloin tip oven roast, sliced into thin pieces
  • 1 1/2 onions, chopped
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • 1 tsp garlic seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp all purpose seasoning
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • oil for frying
  • boiling water

 

  1. Add the beef strips to a skillet and spice(use only half of a teaspoon of each spice and save the rest for later) also do not salt now
  2. Fry for about 15-20 min on medium/high heat, until most of the water evaporates from the beef
  3. Now put the beef in a colander and rinse with water
  4. Once you have rinsed the beef add it to a clean skillet with 1 of the chopped onions
  5. Add about 2 tablespoons oil and the other half of the spices
  6. Fry for about 15 minutes until the onion is just a tad golden brown
  7. Make sure you take off the meat mixture from the heat before the onions get too much color
  8. Now add the meat mixture to a pot and add the other half of the chopped onion and salt
  9. Pour in boiling water until it covers all the beef and turn on the heat to high
  10. As soon as the water boils turn the heat on to the lowest and cover
  11. Let it cook for 2 hours and you don’t need to mix

This dish serves 5-6

    Loved this easy to make and delicious recipe, it’s great as podliva, so tender just like you said it would be! My hunny asks me to make this over and over!
